This little adventure began in the fall of 2015. I've always been an effects junkie and was starting to grow quite the collection. I've also worked in one part or another of the electrical/electronics field. I was an Aircraft Electrician in the US Army, became a licensed Journeyman Electrician after transitioning back to civilian life and later came to work for the largest electric utility in the state. I'm currently the Supervisor of our area's Electric Field Lab. Our technicians program, install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair all of the protective relaying and automation in our substations and on line equipment. It's very nerdy and I absolutely love it!
One of the first pedal purchases I made that really got me thinking, "I could probably do this myself" was the Black Arts Toneworks "Pharaoh Fuzz". I knew it was a modified version of the good old Big Muff which has been around for a looooong time. So, I started looking for DIY resources online and down the rabbit hole I went.
Along the way, my daughter got interested in what daddy was doing downstairs in the shop. So, of course I had her help me out with some enclosure decorations, then I showed her how to use a meter to check component values (and how to identify different component types). After that we moved on to some soldering lessons and she took to it a lot faster than I did when I started! She's still interested enough to help out in the shop from time to time and has started building a collection for her first pedalboard.
As it goes, one thing lead to another and we started growing a little following on Facebook and later on Instagram, and Daddy Daughter Pedal Works was born!
Here we are some years later, finally setting up a real website and trying to grow our little hobby business a little more.
We're looking forward to developing our "standard line" of pedals and welcome any feedback and suggestions on what people are looking for. Hopefully we can become a little part of your tone collection and you can become a little part of our pedal family!
Best wishes and thanks for taking a look, -Drew & Aida
